Common Respiratory Diseases
Today, respiratory diseases have become one of the most common health problems among people. Genetics, smoking, and pollution might be the main contributing factor to such conditions. Lungs are the air filters of our body; they have to filter oxygen and impurities from the air. In this blog, we are going to focus on some of the most common respiratory diseases.
Asthma
It is one of the most common respiratory diseases among people and often referred to as chronic respiratory condition. Patients experience breathing issues because of inflammation in their lungs. In severe cases, he/she has to face dry cough, chest tightness, wheezing, and shortness of breath. It is often believed that there’s a significant connection between environmental allergies and this condition. Small dirt particles and pollution can trigger an asthma attack.
COPD or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
This disease actually consists of a lot of respiratory conditions. Patient experiences severe breathlessness, mucus, and shortness of breath. It might be challenging to detect such a condition because of its complex symptoms. People often misunderstand the symptoms as symptoms of the aging process. Smoking is the primary reason behind this respiratory condition. A patient with COPD won’t be able to do even simple everyday activities.
Bronchitis
We can say that this disease is an evolved form of COPD and emphasizes cough. A patient will develop excessive mucus from the lungs, mainly in the morning, after getting up. The mucus glands present in our throat increase their output, and the through produces excessive cough.
Emphysema
It is another form of COPD, where the patient experiences problems in exhaling air from his/her lungs. Smoking is often the leading cause of this respiratory condition. Smoking damages our lungs to such a great extent that they are unable to repair themselves after one point in time.
COVID-19
COVID-19 or the Novel Coronavirus is a relatively new viral disease. Medical researchers are still in their early phase to find out the effective treatment and understand the virus. This respiratory disease is very contagious and spreads like common flu. However, its effects are very critical; the patient suffers from a shortage of breath and fever. Many people have lost their lives due to this new virus.
